Luna Goddess of the Moon

Once upon a time the Fairy Godmother lived in a little cottage next to a babbling brook. The house was painted white with a sky-blue trim around the windows and doors. In front of the cottage was an apple tree where lily of the valley grew abundantly. A bright red rose bush grew over the front door. When you walked into the Fairy Godmother’s home it smelled of healing herbs harvested from her local flower fields. The smell of mugwort, red clover, wild bergamot and fresh mints would wrap around your nose and make you feel as if you were outside amongst the flowers. A little ladder stood in the corner of the room that went to the attic of the cottage. The attic was a special place in the Fairy Godmother’s house. It had a window, which she liked to sit in front of. One could look out at the brook that ran right by her house. The Fairy Godmother lived with a little flower fairy named Selene. Selene was young in fairy years, but when you looked into her amber eyes, you knew her soul was old and wise. It was a warm summer night. Selene and the Fairy Godmother had just come back from picking a white rose in the full moon light. The Fairy Godmother put the rose in a vase of water. Both Selene and she climbed up the little stairs to the attic. The Fairy Godmother placed the white rose on a small table in front of the window. The moonbeams shone through the window and the petals of the rose seemed to glow in their light. On the table next to the rose was a small silver hand mirror that sparkled with magic as the moonlight reflected off the silver metal. The Moonbeams seemed to bathe the magical pair in silvery light. Selene sat in the Fairy Godmother’s lap and looked deep into the full moon with her amber eyes. In a low voice, the Fairy Godmother began to sing: I am Luna, I am Luna, Goddess of the Moon. Blessing all I see. Reflecting light for you and me. Reflecting light for you and me. Selene looked into the glowing face of the Fairy Godmother and asked her, “What does reflecting mean?” The Fairy Godmother picked up the silver hand mirror from the table and put the mirror to Selene’s face. She said, “This is your reflection.” It is because the moon reflects the light of the sun and thus illuminates the night sky that we see the Full Moon at this time of the month. The moon acts as the sun’s reflecting mirror. It is the same with all the people that live here on earth. Each person is a reflection of the Light of the Divine Creator. Each and every being is like a reflecting mirror of light. However, our eyes have not been trained to see into the reflection of each other. We have not been trained to recognize the Divine Creator’s Light.” Selene looked a little puzzled by what the Fairy Godmother had just told her and asked, “Well, if everyone is a mirror of the Divine Creator’s Light, why are there bad people on earth?” The Fairy Godmother looked down at Selene with her loving eyes and said, “They have forgotten that they are reflecting the Divine Creator’s Light. They are asleep.” Selene got very quiet as she deeply thought of all the words the Fairy Godmother shared. The Fairy Godmother then took the mirror and held it up to her own face and said, “The real magic is to see yourself in everyone and everything and reflect the Divine Creator’s Light in your life.” Copyrights Raylene Abbott
